- Unmanned Pump Control, Choose 3S
Shanghai 3S Global Company Limited
Modern water pump control systems not only need to realize start-stop and speed regulation, but more importantly, ensure long-term stable and safe operation.
The 3S Smart Water Pump Control Panel achieves multi-layer protection from electrical to mechanical aspects through 17 comprehensive protection functions, effectively extending equipment service life and reducing maintenance costs.

2. Under Current Protection
Under current protection is automatically activated when the motor operating current is much lower than the rated load current, which usually indicates that the water pump is running dry or the load is disconnected. Since the mechanical seal relies on liquid for cooling and lubrication, dry running will cause rapid wear of the seal and impeller. This function can stop the pump in a timely manner at the early stage of dry running, thus effectively preventing damage to mechanical components.
3. Over Voltage Protection
When the Smart Water Pump Control Panel detects that the grid voltage is continuously too high, the system will trigger over voltage protection. Excessively high voltage will impact the motor insulation materials and the internal electronic components of the controller, significantly shortening the service life of the devices. This function can automatically cut off the power supply to avoid damage to the motor and control system caused by voltage surges.
4. Under Voltage Protection
When the grid voltage is continuously too low, the controller will trigger the under voltage protection function. Operation at low voltage will cause the motor to increase current to maintain power, leading to overheating of the windings. This protection can prevent the motor from operating under unstable voltage and automatically restart after the voltage returns to normal, ensuring continuous and reliable operation of the system.
5. Locked Rotor Protection
Locked rotor protection is used to prevent the motor rotor from being completely stuck during startup or operation. When the system detects that the motor cannot rotate, it will immediately cut off the power supply. The current under locked rotor condition can reach 5 to 8 times the rated value; if protection is not activated in a timely manner, the motor may be burned out within seconds. This function is the last line of defense to prevent the motor from being "burned out in seconds".
6. Blockage Protection
When the inlet or outlet of the water pump is partially blocked by foreign objects, resulting in abnormal flow, the controller will activate blockage protection. Such blockage will reduce the pump efficiency, cause abnormal current fluctuations, and lead to overheating or even cavitation. Through this function, the system sends an early warning or shutdown signal in a timely manner, reminding the user to check and clear the blockage to protect the pump body and improve operating efficiency.
7. Dry Run Protection
Dry run protection is one of the most important protections in a water pump system. When the Automatic outdoor water Pump starter detects that the pump body is running without water, the controller will stop the pump immediately. The mechanical seal cannot be cooled without water and will be burned out in a short time. This function can prevent severe mechanical damage caused by dry running, ensuring that the water pump only operates when there is liquid.
8. Signal Loss Protection
When the controller fails to receive signals from external sensors (such as pressure or water level sensors), the system will trigger signal loss protection. At this time, if the system continues to operate, it may make wrong control decisions due to the loss of monitoring basis. By promptly alerting the user to check the lines and sensors, the Smart Water Pump Control Panel ensures that the entire system operates in a safe and controllable state.
9. Short Circuit Protection
Short circuit protection is the most urgent safety mechanism in an electrical system. When an abnormally large current occurs in the line or inside the motor, the controller will cut off the power supply instantaneously. Short circuit current is sufficient to melt wires, burn components, and even cause fires; therefore, this function can prevent catastrophic accidents and ensure the safety of equipment and personnel.
10. Phase Loss Protection
When any one phase of the three-phase power supply is missing, the controller will immediately trigger phase loss protection. Operation with phase loss will cause the motor to overheat severely, generate vibration and abnormal noise, and may burn out the windings in a very short time. This function is an indispensable basic safety protection for three-phase motors.
11. Sensor Error Protection
When an external sensor malfunctions or its output signal exceeds a reasonable range, the system will activate sensor error protection. Incorrect signal input may cause the controller to make dangerous decisions, such as misjudging the pressure as zero and increasing the speed indefinitely. This function can diagnose the health status of the sensor and prevent the system from being misled by incorrect information.
12. Phase Imbalance Protection
This function is used to monitor whether the three-phase current is balanced. When the current difference between any two phases exceeds the allowable range, the system will trigger an alarm or shutdown. Unbalanced operation will cause the motor to overheat, reduce efficiency, and shorten its service life. Through phase imbalance protection, the Automatic outdoor water Pump starter ensures that the motor operates stably under good power conditions.
13. Anti-Rust Protection
Anti-rust protection is an intelligent maintenance mechanism. When the water pump is out of operation for a long time, the Smart Water Pump Control Panel will automatically start the water pump for a short time to make it run for a moment. This prevents the impeller and pump casing from being rusted and stuck due to long-term inactivity, ensuring that the water pump can start smoothly when needed and extending the service life of mechanical components.
14. Phase Sequence Protection
When the phase sequence of the three-phase power supply is connected incorrectly, the Automatic outdoor water Pump starter will determine whether there is a reverse connection by detecting the power phase sequence. If the phase sequence is incorrect, the motor will reverse, which not only fails to discharge water normally but also may damage the pump body. This function can automatically detect and refuse to start when power is turned on, and issue an alarm to remind the user to adjust the phase sequence.
15. Frequent Start-Stop Protection
Frequent start-stop protection prevents the motor from being damaged due to frequent starts by limiting the number of starts per unit time or setting the minimum time interval between two starts. Each time the motor starts, it will generate an inrush current up to 5 to 7 times the rated current; frequent thermal stress will accelerate insulation aging and mechanical wear. This function, when used with the Smart Water Pump Control Panel, can effectively extend the service life of the motor and contactor.
16. Leakage Protection
Through leakage sensors installed in the pump pit or machine room floor, the Automatic outdoor water Pump starter can real-time detect the presence of accumulated water. When leakage occurs or the liquid level rises, the system will automatically alarm and shut down. If accumulated water is not handled in a timely manner, it may cause equipment short circuits, leakage, or even electric shock accidents. Leakage protection can effectively prevent secondary disasters and ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
17. PTC Probe Protection
PTC probe protection uses a thermistor embedded in the motor windings to real-time monitor the internal temperature of the motor. When the temperature exceeds the set threshold, the controller immediately executes the protection action. Compared with the method of estimating temperature through current, PTC detection is more accurate and reliable, and can fundamentally prevent the motor from being burned out due to overheating.
The 3S Smart Water Pump Controller takes triple protection (electrical, mechanical, and signal) as its core, and realizes the full-link safety management from prevention to emergency through 17 precise protection mechanisms.
Whether in complex working conditions, long-term operation, or extreme environments, the control system can maintain stability and reliability, helping users achieve the operation goals of "zero accidents, low energy consumption, and high reliability".
